Clock face

Changing times are inevitable.
But must we push it so?
Clocks are merely mechanical devices.
But that’s something you already know.

We don’t have to get up earlier or later
Just to make the day seem longer or shorter.
Or go to bed before nighttime has fallen
So as for me, I stand firm, like hardened mortar.

I’m not going to change my clocks twice a year
Those tiny knobs are too hard to wind anyway
I’m going to sleep and wake in normal hours
I’m going to keep the same schedule for work and play.

And if the rest of the world wants to manipulate its clocks
Well, let them go ahead and do it.
I’ll keep the same time year in and year out
Be early or late to every event and not give one damn whit!
